About Us

Founded in 2003 by Ray Allen, we are Sacramento's only organization for LGBT veterans. We have been relatively inactive for the past few months because it is election year and many of the current political ssues are occupying the time normally given to the group by its more active members. We hope to get back to normal after the November elections.

Generally we have monthly dinners at a restaurant in Midtown Sacramento where we mostly talk about sex and politics. We also sponsor patriotic ceremonies like on Veterans Day and provide a color guard for the annual Pride Parade.

You should join us if you are a veteran of any of the armed forces or of the Coast Guard or Public Health Service. To join, just scroll to the bottom of this page and click on "Join Sacramento Valley Veterans." Generally most persons in SVV are also members of American Veterans for Equal Rights.

My name is Ty and I am a vet in the Sacramento area and a member of Vets4Vets, a non-partisan veteran organization dedicated to helping Iraq and Afghanistan-era veterans feel good about themselves and heal from any negative aspects of service and war through the use of peer support. I just wanted to pass on info regarding a veterans resource in the CA capitol for those that need it.

I attended a SVV event a couple of years ago but was unable to make a lot of events because of my location. I'm not in the Sacramento area and able to get more involved.
