Getting Started

 This site is  free to everyone: There are no premium features. You may browse it without registering.  To use its interactivity, you must register and have an approved profile with face pic. Here are some basic rules for registering.

• You must reside in the greater Sacramento area.  That area extends to Stockton on the south, Placerville on the east,  Yuba City on the north and Vacaville on the west. If we should have any doubts about your residency, we will ask you for a telephone contact number in the 916, 707 or 209 area codes to verify your residency. Non-residents and persons who fail to provide residency information when asked will be deleted.
  
• Upload a picture with your face in it. All members of Cafe Q must have a reasonably recognizable , recent picture of their face on their profile.  Partners may join together and have a double portrait.  All pictures will be cropped and resized to 183px X 183 px, so the closer your pic is to those dimensions, the better. You may edit and crop your pictures to the right size by using the free online applications described in Optimizing and Resizing Images.   The picture need not be a head and shoulders shot like a high school year book, but it must clearly show your face. It can be you in your garden or with your cat, or even in a bathing suit, but you cannot be completely naked.  Nor can it be with another person unless you are joining as partners or the other person's face is blanked out. Also, it must be close enough to you that you can be clearly identified.  No long shots on the beach with your face in shadow. So, before you register, it is important that you have a good picture  ready to upload.          
  
•  Submit a reasonable profile: Before starting, check out  our profile guidelines and the profiles of some other members.  They will show you what kind of questions you will be asked.   Profiles must be approved.  Only one narrative question is required -- "Tell us about yourself." Your answer here should be good enough to give us a feel for who you are.  An answer like "Don't get me started," "Just ask," "Email me" or with random characters (ljkshduifhfld) will not be approved.   Keep in mind that the more you tell about yourself, the more likely you will come across as a real person and be likely to attract friends, be invited to join groups or attract a potential mate.  And, of course, if you are just looking for travel companions, a well developed travel section will do you a lot of good.  You can edit your profile at any time.
• Accept the Terms of Use: When you register and fill out your profile, you will be asked to check a box that says you understand and accept the terms of use. Those terms of use require that you waive all claims and causes of action for damages against the creator and developers of Cafe Q and the NING network. The Terms of Use also include a Code of Conduct and prohibits spam (repeated postings of the same message), commercial messages and public postings of sexually explicit writings or images. Whenever the Terms of Use are violated in an obvious manner, we banish the member without warning.
